The Town of Smithers’ Director of Recreation Andrew Hillaby is asking people to vote online to help secure additional funding for a second sheet of ice.
Aviva Community Fund is taking online votes to consider who will share in a $1 million fund — the Smithers’ allotment, should it win, would be about $150,000.
The Town has already secured $188,075 through the Second Sheet of Ice Committee, $1.7 million from 2006 government funds, and $190,000 from Town Capital Reserve.
People are encouraged to vote everyday.
