A “surprisingly” potent package of pot was sniffed out by two Castlegar RCMP members Wednesday morning.
Around 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning two members of the Castlegar RCMP went to Tim Hortons for a coffee. While walking through the parking lot the officers could smell marijuana, but there was no one in the area smoking anything. Instead, the smell was coming from one of the vehicles in the parking lot.
The officers arrested two women on the scene.
“The officers were surprised at the potency of the smell when they found the marihuana packaged in sealed containers inside a car with the windows up and the doors closed,” said Sgt. Laurel Mathew
A search of the vehicle lead to the seizure of 45 grams of marijuana including 20 rolled marijuana joints. The pot was not openly being smoked, but was in packages amongst personal items.
One female was released without charge, the other female was released shortly after on a promise to appear in Castlegar court for May 23, facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
