Houston RCMP are waiting for autopsy results to determine what killed a man whose body was found in a ditch along Highway 16 near Topley on Tuesday.
RCMP spokesperson Dave Tyreman said police were working with the B.C. Coroner’s Service to determine a cause of death.
“Until we determine a cause of death we don’t know if it’s suspicious or non-suspicious,” he said.
“We’re waiting for the autopsy and then that will tell us what direction we’re going.”
The man’s name, age and place of residence has not been released.
His body was found by a maintenance worker near the Six Mile Brakecheck, about halfway between Burns Lake and Houston, on Tuesday morning.
Police closed the highway after they received the call at 11:45 a.m.
