What started a major fire in downtown Lumby will never be known.
The investigation has ended into the Feb. 6 blaze that destroyed Nap’s Laundromat and two residential apartments on Vernon Street.
“After examination of the debris which is piled up and the damage is quite extensive, the cause will be listed as undetermined,” said Dean Wakefield, investigator.
“After three days of evaluation, digging and speaking to witnesses, we know that witnesses are reporting the fire started at the rear on the outside of the building.”
The scene has been turned over to the owner and the insurance company.
The damage value is estimated at $410,000.
While the property owner had insurance, the tenants in the apartments did not have content insurance.
