CCRD makes 2017 commission and committee appointments at December meeting

The December board of directors meeting was rescheduled from Thursday, December 8 to Wednesday, December 7.

The December board of directors meeting was rescheduled from Thursday, December 8 to Wednesday, December 7. There is no meeting scheduled for January, the next regularly scheduled meeting is Thursday, February 9 2017 at the CCRD Office in Bella Coola. As always, the public are welcome to attend.

The board of directors made their commission and committee appointments for 2017. Residents are encouraged to review the appointments which are posted on the CCRD website; there are several vacant positions which will be advertised on the CCRD website, Facebook, local bulletin boards, and in upcoming issues of Coast Mountain News.

The Bella Coola RCMP gave their quarterly report to the directors.  Sergeant Thiessen will be returning to the February meeting to seek CCRD board input regarding what it would like to see in the way of policing efforts in the Bella Coola Valley.

Additional highlights from the December board meeting include the following. A preliminary 2017 financial plan indicated that planned expenditures relate to the board’s strategic priorities (the Bella Coola Airport, Swimming Pool and the Official Community Plan) which include a flightway clearing project which is grant dependent, design work related to the pool mechanical system and liner replacement, and the commencement of the update of the Bella Coola Valley Official Community Plan.

The 2016-2019 Community Economic Development Operating Plan for the Central Coast Regional District Economic Development Services function was adopted by the board.

The draft Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) will be released in accordance with the newly adopted Solid Waste Management Community Consultation Program.
