Six new businesses located in the CDC building are holding an open house Aug. 27 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
The businesses began organizing the open house in the spring, as they started to rejuvenate the appearance of their storefronts.
Most of these stores have been open for less than a year.
“I thought it would be a good idea to showcase the diverse shopping and services offered in one convenient location”, organizer Paula Sword said.
Businesses participating are Relax Body Work and Massage, A Page In Time Scrapbook, Biobalance Wellness Services, Thrifty Kidz, Blumko Flower Art and Momentum Learning Centre.
They came up with the idea of holding an open house to allow the community of Quesnel to see that there are many stores and services located in the historical building.
Relax Body Works and Massage, a massage therapy spa, offers different types of massage such as deep tissue, reflexology, sports, circulation and hot stone.
A Page In Time Scrapbook is a store dedicated to all things scrapbook.
They opened their doors in 2007 and recently relocated to the CDC building.
They hold scrapbooking classes for every skill level, including kids and teens and offer everything from stamps to specialty paper.
You can find anything for your scrapbooking needs.
The scrapbooking store also sells handmade cards, created by local artists.
BioBalance Wellness Services offers quantum biofeedback sessions, a powerful and non-invasive way to reduce stress and re-educate muscles.
Thrifty Kidz offers new and used items for kids of all ages. The store offers a wide selection of clothing, books, toys and baby accessories.
Blumko Flower Art is relatively new to Quesnel, but has already made quite an impression, specializing in flower arrangements for any occasion.
Lastly, Momentum Learning Centre is very new to the CDC building.
It opened it’s doors in August to help learners of all ages unleash their potential and achieve their goals.
Kimberly Simpson, the owner and a certified teacher, saw a need in Quesnel for learners to develop and learn new skills.
The Momentum Learning Centre offers many different programs for children, including enrichment activities, individual tutoring and group tutoring.
The centre also offers homeschooling services within Quesnel. With the motto “I can do anything, even if I need help,” their mission is to help unlock potential for learning within every child.
This fall, the learning centre offers an afterschool program for children in the primary grades.
Simpson hopes there will be interest in enrichment programs for both intermediate and high school grades.
Throughout the year, Momentum Learning Centre will offer individualized tutoring programs for children who need guidance in certain subject or life skill areas.
Visitors to the open house are eligible to enter a draw at each location for a grand prize gift basket filled with goodies from the participating businesses in the building.
