Celebrate Camas Day Sunday in Uplands Park.
Camas, other wildflowers and myriad birds are on the agenda of nature lovers from noon to 4 p.m. on April 30.
The Friends of Uplands Park invites the community to celebrate the Uplands Park camas meadows and wildflowers at the Beach Drive at Cattle Point Entrance to the park.
The event includes wildflower walks through seas of blue camas, music, native plant displays and planting information, refreshments and birding.
Geoffrey Newell leads a session at 1 p.m. starting near the tents by the first parking lot at the entrance to Cattle Point. Participants will head into Uplands Park and finish at the ocean. The flowers are now in full bloom and the warbler migration is intense. Newell has already spotted at least two rare visitors to the park – singing Nashville warblers.
