In just over a month Barriere will be filled with artists and artisans from across the area as they present their creations to the public.

The fourth annual Barriere Celebration of the Arts will take place on June 25 and 26, on the grass at Barr K Treats, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. both days.

Hosted by North Thompson Arts Council (NTAC), the annual event is a showcase of the talented people who live in the surrounding area. It is also an exciting opportunity for the public to attend this free event where they can enjoy impressive creations, or take one home for themselves.

Booth space is now being booked for those artists and artisans who would like to exhibit their work or offer it for sale.  Space for NTAC members is just $25, and non-members $35.  Spaces are 10’x10′ and are outdoors.  NTAC notes there are a limited number of canopies and tables available at this time for those who don’t have their own for the event.

NTAC also notes they have arranged for several area businesses to showcase artwork from local artists. Participating businesses include: Barriere Employment Centre, Barriere Library, the Station House Restaurant, and Sam’s Pizza Restaurant. They invite any artists who would like to have their artwork included in these displays to call either Sylvia Chivers at 250-672-5310, or Wayne Broomfield at 250-682-7228.

A maximum of two items per artist will be accepted. Paintings must be framed and ready to hang, and all artwork must be accompanied by a business card sized piece of paper stating the artist’s name and the name/description of the item. The items will be on display at the participating businesses from the middle of May until the end of June.
