A celebration of life will be taking place this weekend for a 23-year-old Chilliwack mother whose body was found more than four months after she went missing.
Shaelene Keeler Bell’s celebration of life takes place Saturday (June 26) and will be livestreamed on social media.
Although the event itself will be private, the family has decided to let the public watch it online since so many people in the community gathered to help find her and continued to follow and support the ongoing search for months, said Bell’s mother, Alina Durham.
Saturday’s event will be livestreamed via the “Help find Shaelene Bell – Missing from Chilliwack BC” Facebook page starting at about 2:15 p.m.
Bell went missing on Jan. 30. Her body was found on Wednesday, June 2 in the Fraser River near Coquitlam.

Durham is asking people to make a donation to BC Children’s Hospital in memory of her daughter.
Bell was the mother to two young boys and her youngest son has been a patient at BC Children’s Hospital for most of the last two years, and last year he was the poster child for an annual fundraiser for the hospital.
“Going through the stress and fear of having a very sick child, she still felt compelled to help Children’s Hospital raise awareness and money for other children,” Durham said two weeks after her daughter went missing.
Additionally, the family is asking anyone who sees missing posters up for Bell around town to please remove them.
To make a donation, go to bcchildrens.ca/donate.
To watch Shaelene Bell’s celebration of life, go to “Help find Shaelene Bell – Missing from Chilliwack BC” on Saturday, June 26 2:15 p.m.
