CENTRAL SAANICH — The Brentwood BAy Community Association (BBCA) recently accepted a generous donation of $20,000 from the Central Saanich Lions Club.

The funds will go towards a new permanent outdoor performance stage in Brentwood Bay’s Pioneer Park, which the BBCA oversees.

The donation was made on behalf of all the members of the Central Saanich Lions Club through their many fundraising activities, in memory of William Eastgate, who was a prominent member of the Lions for many years.

“It was a natural fit,” said John Hannam, president of the Central Saanich Lions Club.

“Our organization is all about community, and the new stage will be bringing families and friends together for all kinds of events for decades to come.  We’re proud to play a leading role in this wonderful project.”

The Lions’ generous contribution has brought the fundraising to within two-thirds of its construction budget.

Ground will be broken soon and construction is scheduled for completion later this spring. For more information and donation options on the future permanant stage project in Brentwood Bay, visit brentwoodbay.info.
