Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting with John Les, parliamentary secretary. It was a good turnout. Les was gathering information for the job creation program and input provided should help to identify the needs in our community.

The executive made a presentation to the B.C. Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services in September.  The budget consultations provided a good opportunity for us to express our views regarding next year’s provincial budget.

Our Visitor Centre numbers increased in July and August 2011 from 2010 by 1,250 visitors.  We are still open seven days and expect a busy fall.

We encourage all residents to use this facility for information when they are planning a trip around the province.  We are holding the annual Made in the Cariboo Fair on Saturday, Nov. 26 and space is almost sold out.  If you are wanting to book space at the TDC call 250-392-5025.  We invite everyone to attend our general meeting luncheon on Sept. 29, from 11:45 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Signal Point Restaurant. Chamber meetings offer businesses the opportunity to meet other businesses.  We ask that you help us and the restaurant:  RSVP by Tuesday to 250-392-5025.  Cost for lunch is $15 for members and $20 for non members.  Members are encouraged to enter one of our draws and your business could be profiled compliments of the Tribune and The Wolf/The Rush.

We are pleased to advise that our guest speaker this month is Ray Sanders from Thompson Rivers University.

Our AGM and board elections will be held Oct. 27 at our luncheon meeting.

If you are interested in working with us in this capacity, please give us a call.
