Two men wanted in connection with one of the city’s biggest drug busts are expected to surrender to police.
As of Thursday morning, warrants were still outstanding for Danny Le, 32, and Paul Matthew Johnson, 31, both of Campbell River.
“They’re expected to turn themselves in to police,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Troy Beauregard told the Mirror.
On April 9, 2012, following a months-long investigation, Mounties raided several undisclosed residences in the city,
netting five kilograms of cocaine and approximately $85,000 cash. They also seized three vehicles.
Three men were arrested, but police wouldn’t say anything more about the raid until Thursday’s announcement.
“After a lengthy review of the abundant evidence obtained during that investigation, the Public Prosecution Service announced charges against two people,” Beauregard said in a news release.
The two men are expected to appear in Campbell River provincial court after they’re formally arrested.
Le has been charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of a prohibited weapon. Johnson is also charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
