Terrace RCMP have forwarded three charges against a man as officers conclude their investigation into the death of a 15-year-old boy who died of a gunshot wound on February 9th, 2015.
Charges of Criminal Negligence Causing Death, Careless Storage of a Firearm, and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm on a 47-year-old local man have been forwarded to Crown Counsel for review.
Original Story February 10th, 2015:
On February 9, 2015 around 10:00 p.m. the Terrace RCMP were called to a residence on Molitor Street.
Upon arrival, officers located a 15-year-old youth who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
The youth was transported by BC Ambulance to Mills Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injury.
A 16-year-old Terrace youth who was also at the residence was taken into police custody.
The circumstances leading up to the incident are still under investigation.
It is believed that the two individuals knew each other and the public is not at risk as a result of this incident.
This investigation is in its early stages and police are working in partnership with the BC Coroner Service and Police Victim Services.
