Charges have been essentially dropped for two people living near Creston suspected of owning an adult cheetah that escaped into the wild in 2015.
Earl Pfeifer and Carol Plato had been charged with one count of possessing an alien species without a permit in December.
Two years ago, a cheetah with an orange collar was spotted on the Kootenay Highway. Despite search efforts by Creston RCMP and the Conservation Officer Service, the cheetah has not been found.
