Queen Charlotte presented its 2011 annual report when it met July 3, as required by provincial legislation.The 56-page document, illustrated with colour photos, highlights activities in the past year, points the way to the next year and offers financial figures for the 6 year old village.It shows the village looking to continue work on the community park this year, as well as acquiring land for a public works yard, transferring the assets of the fire department to the village and continuing to develop appropriate bylaws and polices, among other things.It also notes that a total of $742,437 in grants were received last year, including $152,205 for the seawalk and $74,055 from three sources for Spirit Square Phase II.The report also shows that residential property tax assessment is just below $70-million, while business assessment is just below $35-million, both higher than in previous years.A financial statement for the 2011 year is also included. It shows the village had revenues of $1.77 million during the year which ended December 31 and expenditures of $1.69 million, and has assets worth $22.8 million, including $5.6 million in land, a water and sewer system worth $6.6 million, roads and sidewalks worth $4.6 million and buildings worth $176,000.Copies of the report are available at the village office.
