Chase residents are planning to take action in hopes of bringing consistent and quality health care back to the community.

Val Donnelly is one of the local residents organizing a day of protest in Chase, set for Aug. 14, in an attempt to get the attention of government.

Donnelly has a lengthy background in the health-care field, including a career as a paramedic and an emergency medical dispatcher. She was responsible for the start-up of the first responders in the North Shuswap and helped out with the South Shuswap.

Donnelly is chair of a committee set up to help find solutions to what she considers a crisis.

The Chase resident says she believes the village needs to break away from the primary health-care system, and instead focus on creating incentives to keep doctors in the area.

Donnelly invites residents of Chase and surrounding areas to come down to the Chase Medical Centre anytime between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. She hopes to make council aware of their concerns and would like to work with them to find creative incentives to keep doctors in the area.
