The first of the Summer Kicks concert series comes to Spirit Square this Wednesday, June 12, featuring Chase The Bear with local performer Eric Laroque.
After playing the Tiny Lights Festival in Ymir, Chase The Bear comes to Golden. The band is relatively new, forming in 2017 in Vancouver.
The five members, Troy Gilmore, Connor Brooks, Leo Gilmore, Braeden Royer, and Jordan Philips bring their chemistry to the stage, playing rock and roll with instrumental chops and rock star swagger.
“They’re young guys,” says Kicking Horse culture executive director Bill Usher. “I’m looking forward to [seeing] those guys.”
Chase The Bear gets their inspiration from classic masters of music The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and ties in elements of funk, soul, and modern rock.
Kicking Horse culture describes the band as “five gifted guys with a rare passion.”
Since they formed two years ago, they have won Live Acts’ Best in Vancouver at the sold-out Railway Star and Beer Cafe, they were featured in Beatroute Magazine, and have had their songs play on various radio stations in Vancouver.
They have played alongside Bret Michaels, Monster Truck, The Lazys, and other Canadian talent.
Chase the Bear has their self-titled EP available on iTunes, Apple Music or Spotify.
The band describes themselves as “a Victoria-based band specializing in boot-stomping vintage rock and anthemic alt-pop, inspired by the greatest music of the past century.”
