Approximately 1000 vehicles over a four hour time-frame went through a Checkstop in Burns Lake on Oct. 15, 2013.

The joint effort between B.C. wildlife conservation officers and the Burns Lake RCMP netted four infractions: three under the fish and wildlife act and one minor alcohol violation that resulted in a brief, roadside driving suspension.

Conservation and RCMP officers were checking for wildlife, firearm, and driving infractions. Only one breathalyzer test was conducted, which resulted in the sole alcohol infraction. No other drivers raised alarm bells during the Checkstop that would have resulted in a request for a blood alcohol test.
