Cherryville residents are lacing up their skates and preparing for a day of fun.

The Cherryville Community Club will hold an appreciation skate and celebration Saturday at the outdoor skating rink at 127 North Fork Rd.

“We are well into our second season of skating,” said Lisa Larson, with the club.

“We want to celebrate what we have been able to accomplish in such a short time due to the contributions of our many supporters, donors and volunteers.”

There will be a family skate from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with refreshments provided. And from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., there will be a hockey game/scrimmage.

“Don’t forget to bring your skates and hockey gear,” said Larson.

The rink includes a building and enclosed area, as well as equipment for ice production and maintenance.

“We are currently in the process of erecting a sign that recognizes all of the support that we have been given,” said Larson.

“The facility is being used on a daily basis by people of all skills and ages, and the community exhibits a great sense of pride when it comes to our amazing rink.”
