Chilliwack RCMP took an allegedly impaired driver off the road, arresting a woman who was driving erratically on Highway 1.
Around 6:30 p.m. on June 23 police got a report of a woman who was slumped over the steering wheel, driving in the middle of two eastbound lanes on the freeway. Officers pulled her over at the Prest Road overpass and she appeared to be impaired.
The 31-year-old was arrested at the scene and later released.
Following a review of the incident, a report will be sent to the B.C. Prosecution Service for an assessment of criminal charges.
Meanwhile, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail said that if you plan to consume alcohol or cannabis, leave your vehicle at home and arrange a safe ride.
“RCMP are committed to removing impaired drivers from our roadways,” he said.
