The first board meeting of the new school year will mark a slow return to normal in Chilliwack.
The entire board and staff have been meeting via Zoom since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. But on Sept. 15 they will reconvene in the board office, alongside the interim superintendent and secretary treasurer. The public will still be joining in via Zoom, as will extra staff members and presenters, and pre-registration will still be required. This is in order to comply with physical distancing guidelines.
As for the topics on the table for this first meeting, the pandemic will likely be discussed often. The word “COVID” is mentioned 114 times in the agenda, throughout various reports.
The agenda (attached below) includes a presentation on the Summer Learning program, as well as last year’s audited financial statements, a financial statement discussion, a strategic plan ‘refresh’, and the Hybrid Learning program.
They will recieve staff reports on the Stage 2 Return to School Plan, an Audit Committee Report, Trustee Remuneration, and an enrolment update as of Sept. 14.
