Parents and community members are invited to join a public budget presentation as the Chilliwack Board of Education considers its 2018/2019 0perating budget.

This will also be an opportunity for members of the public to learn about the School District Budget, ask questions, provide support, and submit ideas and suggestions. It will take place on April 19, at 7 p.m., at the Neighbourhood Learning Centre adjoining Chilliwack secondary school.

“Your input as a parent and community member is valuable as we work through budget related challenges,” an invitation from the school district states.

The school board receives its first look at budget assumptions this month, too, during the April 10 board meeting at the school district office. That meeting is open to the public and begins at 7 p.m. It will go back to the Budget Committee on May 3, before returning to the board for three readings throughout May and June’s meeting schedule. The deadline for the budget to go to the Ministry of Education is June 30.

Questions or comments beforehand can be directed to Gerry Slkyhuis, Secretary Treasurer, via email at gerry_slykhuis@sd33.bc.ca or by phone, at 604-792-1321.
