Who can’t wait for Christmas?

The countdown to Christmas will officially begin in Chilliwack when the magic of the 2020 Rotary Christmas Show is revealed on Saturday evening. Excitement has been building for weeks for the spectacular variety show with a ton of talent airing live at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5 at ChillTV.ca.

Event organizer Megan Shields, president of Chilliwack Rotaract, describes the Rotary Christmas Show as “a new, exciting way” to wave the holiday flag with an entertainment-based celebration of Christmas.

Of course the Christmas Show show can’t totally “replace” the beloved downtown Rotary Christmas parade, Shields said, but it will continue in the same spirit, and remind everyone during the pandemic that there is still time to enjoy the season and persevere.

“Our family-friendly event promises to be the biggest and brightest event of the holiday season!”

The 2020 Rotary Christmas Show will feature a 60-minute program of traditional Christmas acts including music, comedy and dance that will showcase the best that Chilliwack has to offer.

The program will see a “revolving set of hosts” take the reins to introduce acts during the broadcast, and the Man in the Red Suit may be one of them, the organizer hinted.

The show is being planned by the Chilliwack Fraser and Chilliwack Rotary Clubs. Organizers secured $12,000 funding from City of Chilliwack to host a one-hour variety shown for children, with music, entertainment and skits to be broadcast live online.

The Rotary Christmas Show will be aired on ChillTV.ca on Dec. 5 starting at 7 p.m. and for anyone who misses it they can catch up at a later date with the links.
