As part of a new feature, the Cranbrook Daily Townsman will be running a weekly police report that chronicles the happenings of Cranbrook RCMP.

From Monday, Feb. 9 to Sunday, Feb. 16, Staff Sgt. Dave Dubnyk noted that police received 155 calls for service.

Below are some of those calls.

February 9

• At 2:43 a.m. police received report of money being stolen from a residence in the 600 block of 28th Avenue South.

• 4:22 a.m. A man showed up that RCMP office advising he has outstanding warrants for his arrest.

• 6:04 a.m. Police received report of assault.

• 9:33 a.m. Police requested to go check on the emotional wellbeing of an individual.

• 1:59 p.m. Police were requested to keep the peace at a family disturbance.

• 2:36 p.m. A break-and-enter was reported at a cabin in a nearby resort area.

• 4:28 p.m. Loud bangs or possible explosions were heard and reported to police.

• 6:30 p.m. Police received a report of a possible missing person. The following morning the individual was located by the parent unharmed.

• 7:42 p.m. Police had to dispatch a injured deer.

February 10:

• 3:40 a.m. A single vehicle accident occurred in which the vehicle went off the road.  No injuries

• 8:23 a.m. A purse was stolen from a vehicle.

• 3:40 p.m. Police were requested to attend a family disturbance.

• 10:40 p.m. Report of a missing youth. Shortly after the report, the missing youth was found.

•11:32 p.m. Police pulled a vehicle over. The driver was exhibiting signs of impairment and after testing was issued with a 90 Immediate Roadside Prohibition.

February 11:

• 8:52 a.m. There was report of an assault.

• 10:39 a.m. RCMP received a request from another police service to serve a subpoena on a witness living in Cranbrook.

• 12:58 p.m. Two televisions were stolen from a local department store.

• 2:55 p.m. A disturbance was reported in the 1100 block of 2nd Ave South.

• 3:47 p.m. An erratic driver complaint was called in.

• 4:40 p.m. A call came in about a possible impaired driver. The vehicle had U.S. licence plates and was driving erratically. Police patrolled the area, but the vehicle could not be located.

February 12:

• 1:36 a.m. Someone was walking downtown who appeared to be very intoxicated.

• 2:20 a.m. A cellphone, iPod and wallet were all reported either lost or stolen.

• 3:41 a.m. Police apprehended an individual under the Mental Health Act and transferred them to the hospital for committal.

• 2:06 p.m. Report of fraud.

• 2:43 p.m. Another report of fraud. The two reports in question had to do with bad cheques.

• 3:32 p.m. Report of a possible stolen ATV. Police attended and retrieved the ATV. The investigation is ongoing.

• 4:35 p.m. Report of a stolen purse.

• 8:45 p.m. Report of a sexual assault.

• 11:55 p.m. Police conducting a traffic stop and determined that the driver was issued with a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition.

February 13:

• 2:54 a.m. There was a domestic dispute reported.

• 7:56 a.m. Someone called in about finding drug paraphernalia.

“Sometimes it’s a case of someone who found it in the park, sometimes it will be a parent who finds it in their kid’s bedroom,” Dubnyk explained. “In this case it was a suspected crack pipe that was found. In those instances we just take them in and destroy them here. Of course we can’t tie them to anybody. People will often just find them and turn them in, just so they don’t get into the wrong hands.”

• 8:59 a.m. Report of a window being smashed out of a local business.

• 9:07 a.m A local person was picked up for being intoxicated in public and lodged in cells until sober.

•11:32 a.m. A hit and run motor vehicle accident was reported.

•12:31 p.m. A warrant was issued to apprehend an individual under the mental health act and bring to the hospital for assessment.

• 1:36 p.m. Police were notified of a silent panic alarm from a local business. Police attended and determined the alarm was false.

• 1:57 p.m. Three males were reported smoking what was believed to be marijuana outside a local business.

• 2:31 p.m. Police were requested to attend a local address to assist in the removal of two unwanted guests.

• 5:15 p.m. Report of a vehicle driving erratically and passing when unsafe.

• 5:14 p.m. Request for police to keep the peace while an individual picks up some belongings from local address.

• 5:56 p.m. Report of possible drug activity in a local neighbourhood.

• 9:07 p.m. Police received a report of fireworks being set off in local neighbourhood.

• 11:34 p.m. Police were requested to attend local address to check on individual’s well-being.

February 14:

• 2:30 a.m. report of highly intoxicated male running and screaming in the 300 block of 7th Street S.

• 11:03 a.m. A resident reported being charged by two pit bulls.

• 4:43 p.m. Police responded to a two vehicle accident. Three people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One of the drivers was given a ticket for failing to yield after a stop. That occurred on Highway 5A and Theatre Road.

• 5:59 p.m. There was a report of an erratic driver — a green Ford F150 with B.C. licence plates. The truck was passing unsafely and ran a stop sign.

• 7:16 Some residents in a nearby rural area reported hearing two gunshots.

• 11:14 p.m. In a different area, residents reported hearing what they believed to be three gunshots. Police patrolled the area, but didn’t hear anymore and couldn’t find the source of the noise. Dubnyk said reports such as these often turn out to be someone setting off fireworks or a car back firing.

February 15

• 2:01 p.m. There was a report of individual being bitten by a neighbour’s dog.

• 4:54 p.m. A single vehicle accident resulted in no injuries.

• 5:38 p.m. There was a hit-and-run reported.
