West Kelowna residents who received a 2013 citizen survey in the mail in July are encouraged to return their completed forms before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, to ensure council receives feedback before beginning to set budget priorities for 2014.
One thousand surveys were sent to randomly selected taxpayers in mid-July and 210 surveys had been returned as of Aug. 26.
The district’s goal is to receive at least 300 surveys before the deadline in order to provide scientifically accurate results to council.
Findings assist the district in setting budget priorities for the coming year; results indicate how residents feel about the level and quality of programs and services they are currently receiving, and determine if West Kelowna should be providing more, the same or less service in specified areas.
The results from this year’s survey can also be compared against previous years’ findings to see what trends are forming. For example, taxpayers have consistently identified road maintenance as a top priority since the survey began in 2008.
Economic development, growth management, pedestrian pathways and litter clean-up also rank highly each year.
Residents who did not receive a survey through the mail are also welcome to complete the form by going to districtofwestkelowna.ca.
Only mailed out surveys will be used to tabulate the scientific portion of the survey.
