The city has hired a new director of development services who will cover some of the work previously done by manager of operations Geoff Goodall.
“As director of development services, I am in charge of planning, building and development engineering,” Leah Hartley said.
Into her third week on the job, Hartley described the city as an excellent organization and Williams Lake as a very friendly community.
“I’ve received a nice welcome so far from everyone,” she said, adding her family loves outdoor recreation and will enjoy the four seasons in the Cariboo.
Hartley has worked in B.C. as a planner since the 1980s.
Her resume includes positions with the City of Vancouver, a private firm, the Okanagan Regional District and most recently for Island Trust at Saltspring Island.
“Most of my roles have been in senior planning, management planning and meetings of elected officials,” Hartley said of her previous postings.
The city’s chief administrative officer Darrell Garceau said between Hartley and Gary Muraca, director of municipal services hired to replace Kevin Goldfuss who also left last summer, there are no gaps.
“I felt going forward we didn’t need the general manager position that Geoff held,” Garceau said.
