City of Castlegar launches new website

Castlegar's online hub has undergone an upgrade in both looks and content.

The City of Castlegar launched its new website Monday.

Castlegar.ca has undergone an upgrade in both looks and content. The website is a virtual one-stop-shop for just about anything related to the city that you can think of.

You can find everything from information on hiking trails and parks to landfill hours and snow removal priorities.

On the financial side, residents can mange their city accounts, view water and sewer rates and apply for homeowner grants.

New items include a search-able bylaw database and a “News” tab.

The news tab displays public notices in a very readable grid pattern with the posting date clearly visible. Current items displayed range from notices for line painting and watering restrictions to Canada Day Celebration information. Three sub-items haven’t yet to be populated with information — Success Stories, Spotlight and City Alert — but look to be good sources of information in the future.

Monthly water quality reports, building permit forms, business license applications, annual reports, budgets and financial plans, master plans, official community plans and cemetery information are some of the other items available.

City council information is available including meeting schedules, agenda packages, minutes and links to contact mayor and council.

Information for visitors includes historical information, arts and culture highlights, maps, parks information and recreation opportunities.
