Greenwood city council met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday night.
Correspondence
Council received for information a note about City Hall’s holiday hours. City Hall will be closed Dec. 26 and 27, 2016 and Jan. 2, 2017.
New and Unfinished Business
Council received a memorandum from Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Wendy Higashi advising council of the annual New Year’s Family Fun Skate held by the Community Consultative Group at the Midway arena.
“In 2015 the City of Greenwood donated $100 for the New Year’s Family Fun Skate,” the memo states. Council voted in favour of supporting the event with $100 this year.
Council also voted in favour of granting the city’s usual Christmas certificates this year to staff. Certificates, which are valued at $30, are also issued to the Community Christmas Dinner Fund, the Kettle River Lions Christmas Hamper Campaign, and the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department.
Mayor and councillors do not receive the $30 bonuses as per a decision of council in 2013, unless they are part of another group receiving the certificates. Council voted in favour of distributing the bonuses this year on Dec. 15, totaling $630. No member of council received a certificate.
Bylaws
Council voted in favour of giving first, second and third readings to Credit Card Service Fee Bylaw No. 915. The bylaw must still undergo a fourth reading before it takes effect.
Five other bylaws passed fourth and final reading, coming into effect. Those bylaws were: Garbage Collection and Regulation Bylaw 910; Sewer Regulation Bylaw 911; Water Regulation Bylaw 912; Utilities Billing and Payment Schedule Bylaw 913; and Revenue Anticipation Borrowing Bylaw 914.

Greenwood Mayor Ed Smith delivered his report, noting that in the past month he had attended multiple meetings and events. Those included the West Boundary Community Forest meeting, a Regional District of Kootenay Boundary meeting, and the public meeting held by Golden Dawn Minerals Inc. last week.
