Each summer, the City of Parksville plants and maintains a variety of flower beds, planters and hanging baskets throughout the city.
The parks crew are often busy this time of year, with plantings and general cleanup while everything continues to grow so quickly.

Over the years, city crews have planted millions of bulbs and flowers to beautify our streets, public facilities, parks and open spaces.
Most of the annuals planted are begonias, marigolds, zinnias and salvia.
This year’s numbers:
• 15,419 annual bedding plants
• 14 annual beds throughout City with features in the Parksville Community Park, at Pym Street and Highway 19A, as well as downtown Parksville
• 21 planters on Craig, McCarter, Alberni, Morrison, Parksville Community Park, and the operations yard
• And 117 hanging basketsThe city encourages residents to take photos of the flowers and share to social media, using the hashtag #parksvillepics, or tagging @City_Parksville.
