City of Vernon pushes economy

City of Vernon staff will make a pitch to about 60 foreign investors during the Provincial Nominee Program seminar in Vancouver

Steps are being taken to try and stimulate the local economy.

City of Vernon staff will make a pitch to about 60 foreign investors during the Provincial Nominee Program seminar in Vancouver Tuesday.

“The information seminar provides investors with an overview of the PNP along with an opportunity for economic development officers to provide an overview of their community,” said Kevin Poole, economic development manager.

The goal is to have investors show an interest in possibly setting up operations in the North Okanagan.

Poole is also attending a dinner Monday in Vancouver that includes Jobs Minister Shirley Bond.

As past-chairperson of the B.C. Economic Development Association, Poole has been asked to facilitate discussion at one of the tables.

Poole also recently attended the International Council of Shopping Centres conference in Whistler.

“We connected with several local property owners along with a variety of developers and retailers interested in the Vernon market,” said Poole.
