The public can have its say regarding Armstrong’s new official community plan.
Council unanimously passed second reading of the OCP bylaw at its last regular meeting, and have set a public hearing on the plan for Monday, May 26, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers.
After first reading was read in February, the bylaw was referred for comment to affected provincial agencies, municipal governments and stakeholders.
The plan was also posted on the city website to inform the public and receive informal input in advance of a public hearing.
After second reading, there was some light-hearted banter between Mayor Chris Pieper and Coun. John Trainor.
“We’ve been waiting a long time to do that,” said Pieper of going to public hearing.
“We should re-do the plan,” joked Trainor.
“You’re out of order,” laughed Pieper.
The OCP bylaw can still be reviewed in advance of the public hearing on the city’s website, www.cityofarmstrong.bc.ca.
An official community plan is a comprehensive document created by a municipality that guides policy in terms of transportation, land use, recreation, housing and utilities.
