Motorists will have to find other routes around the Northfield intersection this week.
The City of Nanaimo posted updated information about the construction project, noting that access to Northfield Road from the old Island Highway will be completely blocked off, 24 hours a day, until Thursday at 5 p.m.

The block of Boundary Avenue closest to the intersection is also closed and Boundary is open only to local traffic from Meredith Road and Mallard Drive.
Dorman Road, Meredith Road and Waddington Road are suggested detour routes.
Work on the intersection is expected to continue until December.
