The city’s third quarter economic indicators were made public Tuesday evening.
The unemployment figures indicate that unemployment between Sept. 2011 and 2010 is down from 8.4 to 8.1 per cent. The B.C. average is 7.3 per cent.
According to the report, the number of building permits issued to Sept. 30, 2011 were 116 for value of $10.4 million.
In the same period last year, 66 building permits were issued with a total permit value of $10 million.
The number of new homes constructed to Sept. 30 this year was 16 for a total of $2.6 million. Last year to the same period was 19 for a value of $4.7 million.
The number of business licenses issued were 71 compared to 72 in the same period last year.
The number of visitors to the Williams Lake Visitors Centre this year was 21,932; in 2010 the number was 21,192.
Aircraft movements in the period were down over 2010; the number of passengers, however, were up from 21,885 to 23,754. The average selling price to Sept. 30, 2011 for a single family residential home was $235,212 with 106 single family residential units sold and a total of 258 property and home sales for a value of $53.5 million. In 2010 the average selling price for a SFR was $250,840 with 107 single family residential units sold. Total property and homes sold were 296.
