City to crack down on downtown parking

The city will implement regular downtown parking patrols starting the first week in June

In response to requests from local businesses, regular downtown parking patrols will begin in June.

“Increased activity in the downtown core has led to a higher demand for parking, and the city is receiving complaints about people leaving their vehicles parked on the street in excess of the posted time limits,” explains City Clerk Peter Wipper. “This has led to requests from local merchants and the Downtown Business Improvement Association and the Pier Street Association for increased parking enforcement.”

The city will implement regular downtown parking patrols starting the first week in June through contractor Robbins Parking.

To assist people with their parking needs, a map showing long-term downtown off-street parking facilities is available on the City’s website at  www.campbellriver.ca under City Services / Maps / Downtown Parking.

“People who work downtown are encouraged to use the off-street parking lots for long-term parking and leave time-limited on-street parking available for customers,” Wipper adds.

People with questions about parking enforcement should contact City Clerk Peter Wipper at 250-286-5707.
