It is officially spring, and everyone’s mind is turning to the annual yard clean up. If you need assistance getting yard waste to the transfer station, the City of Kimberley will provide an extra round of pick ups especially for spring clean up. Pick ups will begin in May.

If your garbage is regularly picked up on Tuesdays, the dates scheduled for yard waste pick are Monday, May 6 and 13. If Wednesday is your garbage day, your yard waste will be picked up on Tuesday, May 7 and 14. For Thursdays, the dates are Wednesday, May 8 or 15 and for Friday garbage days, pick up will be Thursday, May 9 or 16.

You may choose either date, but each household will only be picked up once, with a maximum volume of one half-tonne load.

You should set out your yard waste at your usual garbage pick up spot by 7 a.m. on the dates provided. All the waste must be bagged and tagged, or otherwise marked, as yard waste.

Yard waste is grass, leaves, sod, plants, hedge clippings and branches under four feet, tied into bundles. You may not include branches larger than four feet long, construction refuse, rocks or dirt, oil or used oil filters, tires, fridges, freezers, air conditioners, or vehicles.
