Classes set to begin at UFV’s new Chilliwack campus

Except for a few specialized courses and activities, all Chilliwack courses are now offered at the UFV campus at the Canada Education Park.

If you’re taking classes at the University of the Fraser Valley’s Chilliwack campus this fall, take note:  UFV has moved!

Except for a few specialized theatre and agricultural courses and activities, all Chilliwack courses are now offered at the UFV campus at the Canada Education Park.

UFV’s Trades and Technology Centre has been located at the Canada Education Park on Keith Wilson Road since 2007. Now it’s being joined by a new “extreme renovation” building that opened its doors last May and is home to UFV credit courses in a variety of disciplines. Building A, as the new building is called, is home to UFV’s Faculty of Health Sciences, including, nursing, dental, health care assistant, and kinesiology programs. UFV has also renovated a building (called Building V) immediately south of Building A to house its agriculture and continuing studies classes. To find out more about the new UFV developments at Canada Education Park go to www.ufv.ca/cep .

Students can take first- and second-year courses in many other disciplines, including arts, sciences, social services, criminology, computing, and business administration, at the CEP campus. UFV also offers upgrading and university preparation courses there. UFV’s season of theatre, including three theatre productions, special events such as Theatresports, and the Directors’ Festival, will remain at the UFV performance theatre on the Yale Road (Chilliwack North) campus.

To celebrate the move to the new campus, UFV will be throwing a big public bash — Come See What’s New at Your U! — on Thursday, Sept 20. More details will be released soon.

Other welcome events at the Chilliwack campus at CEP include a welcome-back barbecue for students on Thursday, Sept 6. The library at the new Chilliwack campus will be hosting a public opening ceremony on Friday, Sept 7. The UFV Student Union Society will also be throwing “Weeks of Welcome” events at the Chilliwack campus, including an outdoor movie, humans vs. zombies, and live theatre on Wednesday, Sept 12; and a live concert on Thursday, Sept 13, including Pardon my Striptease, Andrew Huang,  Oh Village, Rags to Radio, The Corrupted Gentlemen, and SolidRed.

UFV’s new Chilliwack building is located at 45190 Caen Avenue at the Canada Education Park, off of Keith Wilson Road.

To find UFV’s new building, you have several entry options. If you enter the CEP grounds at Keith Wilson and Dieppe Street, drive south on Dieppe Street and turn right on Caen Ave.  If driving from Abbotsford, take the Lickman Road exit and head south (right) on Lickman. Turn left on Keith Wilson Road. Turn right on Tyson and you will enter the Canada Education Park. You will see the UFV Trades and Technology Centre (TTC) on the right. Continue along south on Tyson (past the TTC), and turn left on Caen Ave.

The new UFV building has a dark grey exterior. There is currently parking to the east and to the south  of the building. Do not park in the RCMP training centre lot north of the building. Pay parking is in effect at the  UFV Canada Education Park lots soon. The new campus is also served by Chilliwack Transit’s Route 1 Vedder route, which arrives at Keith Wilson and Dieppe every 20 minutes from 7:57 am to the early evening.
