Classic rock will take to the stage during the North Okanagan’s largest summer celebration.
Nazareth and Trooper will be the headliners during the A&W Funtastic Music Festival June 27 to 30 at the DND grounds in Vernon.
“This year’s lineup of bands will get everyone swaying to the music and singing along to familiar songs” said Brett Kirkpatrick, Funtastic Sports Society president, during a sponsors reception Thursday.
Nazareth will take to the stage on the Friday night while Saturday night will feature tribute bands such as Aerosmith Rocks and Who Made Who, which pays homage to AC/DC. On Sunday night, it will be Trooper.
Local bands will also be on the roster each night, including Lefty, Boulevard, Blaze of Glory, Young’Uns, Redfish, the Chevelles, the Legendary Lake Monsters and the Goods.
Ticket for the music festival are $25 for a day and $50 for the weekend. They go on sale May 15 at Save On Foods or by contacting office@funtastic.org.
The Funtastic slowpitch festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and it has gone from five to 216 teams.
“Who would have ever thought that a small bragging rights competition would grow into the largest slowpitch tournament in Canada,” said Kirkpatrick.
The tournament and music festival raise money for Funtastic’s community grants program and over the years, $1.5 million has been donated back to the community in support of sports and recreation.
“This year, in celebration of the 30 years, a total of $30,000 will be granted.”
