Members of Penticton Search and Rescue suit up for the rescue of two hikers, including an injured female, Monday evening just north of Summerland on Highway 97. In addition to search and rescue, Naramata Volunteer Fire department was called out with its recue vessel to wait at the bottom of the 350-foot embankment. Rescuers determined it was better to lower the two hikers to the bottom rather than bring them back up to the highway. The pair were taken to a waiting ambulance at a nearby beach by the rescue boat. Details about the nature and seriousness of the injuries were not available.
