CMSL announces more that $19,000 in grants

Eight local non profit organizations will receive a total of $19,800 in funding from the Lakes District’s community owned corporation

Eight local non profit organizations will receive a total of $19,800 in funding from the Lakes District’s community owned corporation.

The board of Comfor Management Services Ltd. (CMSL) approved the grants at its meeting May 30.

Organizations receiving funding from the community-owned management corporation are: Lakes District Film Society – $2,500 toward repayment of the loan for its digital projector, Decker Lake Recreation Commission – $5,000 toward hall renovations, Francois-Tchesinkut Recreation Commission – $5,000 toward hall modernization, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 50 – $4,500 toward hall renovations, Lakes District Arts Council – $500 sponsorship for 2011-2012 season, Lakes District Fall Fair – $1,000 for loggers’ sports event, Burns Lake Minor Hockey Association – $300 sponsorship of Bantam B team and the Lakes District Children’s Festival – $1,000 for festival prizes.

“We’re very pleased to be able to provide grants to these deserving community groups,” said CMSL president Quinten Beach.

“These projects will benefit all residents of the Lakes District, and help improve the quality of life in our communities.”

A total of 16 organizations filed funding applications with CMSL prior to the company’s April 30 deadline. The company also accepts applications up to and including October 31.

Since 1998, Comfor Management Services Ltd., Burns Lake Community Forest Ltd. and other companies in the Comfor Group have contributed more than $3.1 million to deserving community groups and organizations in the Lakes District.
