The last concrete part of the former Terrace Co-op retail complex is disappearing today.
Weeks of demolition is about to conclude with the dismantling of a reinforced elevator shaft at the western edge of what was once a mainstay of local shopping.
Demolition work began last month on the city-owned property following a decision to take down the building to better prepare the property for eventual resale.
The city bought the complex and property in late 2005 explaining, at the time, it wanted to have a say in how that property would be used.
The $1 million price tag came from a city reserve account and it is paying back that account each year.
The Co-op closed in the late 1990s, a victim of changing shopping habits and a decline in the local forest industry,
