Coldstream residents are being urged to secure their mail.
RCMP officers are investigating a series of mailbox thefts in the past week.
“We are reminding residents to pick up their mail as soon as possible,” said Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy, adding that suspicious activity around mailboxes should also be reported.
On Feb. 13, Canada Post notified the RCMP of a series of thefts from community mailboxes on Ravine Drive, Upland Drive, Crestview Drive and Kalamalka Road.
And on Feb. 17, reports of thefts were received from Learmouth and Bessette roads.
Noseworthy says there can be significant implications for residents if mail is stolen.
“We get cases of fraud and identity theft. If Grandma sends you money in a birthday card, that’s something they (thieves) look for,” she said.
Anyone with information on these thefts is asked to call the RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
