Coldstream pressures province

Coldstream is keeping on top of the province to ensure its concerns are taken seriously.

Mayor Jim Garlick recently met with Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster, where discussions took place around everything from manure management to the Kalamalka Lookout and the amalgamation-driven group.

Following the contamination case which ended up in the courts, Coldstream has been pushing to ensure proper protections are in place to prevent further contamination.

The meeting with Foster helped Garlick make sure that legislation is still moving in the right direction for protection.

Coldstream has also been pushing to have the province assist with cleanup of the popular lakeview site.

“He said they have just been having some discussions on it and getting it (ownership) changed.”

Garlick also cautioned against the province giving groups like the governance society grants.

Coldstream will hear from the Greater Vernon Governance Society Jan. 13, and is requesting a list of all signatures in advance.

“We would like all members of council in attendance for that,” said Garlick.
