Collision sends Vernon cyclist to hospital

A Vernon cyclist continues to recover from injuries after a collision with a vehicle.

At about 10:30 p.m. Aug. 12, police report that a male cyclist pulled in front of a northbound GMC Sierra at 27th Street and 37th Avenue.

“It appears the cyclist didn’t look either way,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

The 27-year-old resident was thrown off the bicycle and then transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital with head injuries and fractures to the leg.

Molendyk does not believe the injuries are life-threatening.

The vehicle sustained significant damage.

No charges are being contemplated by the RCMP.
