The following information is provided to those who have expressed an interest in the Columbia Riverflows at Birchbank. Please note that this forecast is subject to change.As a result of high basin inflows, BC Hydro is forecasting relatively high discharge flows from theColumbia and Kootenay River systems starting June 22, 2012. BC Hydro expects flows close to165,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) over the next several weeks and higher than normal flows maycontinue throughout the summer.
BC Hydro will be monitoring these flows closely and coordinating the flows between the river systemsto meet Canadian and U.S. flood control objectives.Please be mindful of higher than normal flows when planning activities near the Columbia andKootenay Rivers and like all rivers with upstream hydro-electric facilities, river flows can changesuddenly.For current reservoir levels and discharge information, please visit BC Hydro’s website atbchydro.com and search for ‘hydromet data.’ For additional information, or if you do not have accessto the internet, please call 1-877-924-2444.
