Colwood resident Scott McDonald made what he called a “disappointing” discovery this morning on Ocean Boulevard.
The resident of the Esquimalt Lagoon area found sections of a red couch illegally dumped on the side of the road just before 9:00 a.m.

“There’s just so many other places that can take them. I think someone on my Facebook page somebody said that even UsedVictoria…they’d have been gone if they were free,” he said.
“It’s just so disappointing. We live in such a beautiful part of the world and people don’t have to do that.”
McDonald posted photos of the couch on Twitter and Facebook and says that Coun. Gordie Logan reached out to him almost instantly. Logan forwarded the incident to City staff.
“Kudos to Colwood, they had it cleaned up within 90 minutes,” McDonald said.
McDonald says he often comes across items that have been illegally dumped, citing a couch on Metchosin Road last week and another when he was on his way to Matheson Lake over the weekend.
