The Mental Health and Addictions Advisory Committee is asking for input.

HaliJo Webster, chair of the local advisory board for the committee, is asking for feedback on mental health and addictions services in this community.

The committee wants to give feedback to Northern Health in order to improve the delivery of both mental health and addictions services in communities across the north.

“My experience is that sometimes our voices count, sometimes the words are just that and left at the table,” said Webster. “However; if no one shows up nothing will happen, and I can say that something has to happen and that is change.”

Webster wants to hear from both clients of the mental health and addiction services and the families of these clients, to get input on issues with all aspects of the services.

The input from families and clients will help to design the future of these services in communities.

Webster is an advocate for the voices of families and clients and promotes empathy, compassion and a holistic approach to helping people with addictions and mental health problems.

All client information can be given with complete confidentiality and Webster emphasized client safety and anonymity will be maintained if requested.

The goal is to have decisions being made which benefit the people utilizing these services.

Meetings of the committee take place on the second Thursday of each month from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Stuart Lake Hospital board room.
