Community Foundation accepts new grant applications

The Campbell River Community Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2016 grant process.

Grants will be awarded to local organizations for community projects. One of the 2015 grants was awarded to a “Sightseeing for Seniors” program which assisted otherwise ‘shut-in’ seniors in Campbell River.

The objective of the program was to provide an opportunity for seniors to go for an outing and enjoy the day in a safe, social setting.

“The seniors are truly appreciative of these opportunities,” says Pam Mann of the Campbell River & District Adult Care Society, “the feedback has been very positive.”

Since it was founded in 1990, the Foundation has reached nearly $2 million in permanent endowment funds and has given out nearly $300,000 in grants to many local non-profit organizations in the City of Campbell River and area served by School District 72.

The Foundation is looking forward to reviewing the new applications in the coming weeks. “These grants are given to support our community’s growth, and it’s a wonderful experience being involved in the process,” says Michael Moscovich, Chairman of the Foundation’s Grants Committee.

Applications will be accepted for the next six weeks, closing on March 18 at 4:30 p.m. Non-profit organizations interested in receiving a grant can apply online at www.crfoundation.ca.
