Community Foundation awards development grants

In the first of its kind, the Comox Valley Community Foundation awarded seven professional development grants for a total of $10,000 to local charities to help address the need for greater support and training for staff and volunteers.

The CVCF grants committee used a two-phase adjudication process to select the recipients, fully exploring all aspects of each application.

“We received 18 applications and looked carefully at each one for clear goals, good development plans and measurable benefits,” said committee chair Joan Carson. “Seven organizations were selected and represent the diverse needs of our community.”

Professional Development Grant recipients are: CV Early Years Collaborative, CV Ground Search and Rescue Society, CV Hospice Society, CV Adult Literacy and Learning Society, Glacier View Lodge Society, Hornby Island Educational Society and Hornby Island Elder House Society.

The Comox Valley Community Foundation Professional Development Grant is designed to help organizations address the need to strengthen their skills and capabilities. The Comox Valley Community Foundation has been assisting registered charities to acquire or upgrade critical capital resources for the past 20 years.
