Ten members of the town’s fire department took the First Responders Level 3 course. All members were successful and have been issued an Emergency Medical Assistant license from the B.C. government. But before a TNRD fire department can go on medical aid calls it needs a contract with the B.C. Emergency Health Services ( BCEHS ). TNRD Area A representative Carol Schaffer and members of the Vavenby fire department community committee are currently working on getting it. However, the Blackpool Fire Rescue, another TNRD fire department, has been waiting nearly a year to receive theirs.
