Community responds to Rossland food drive and fundraiser

Rossland Rotary and food bank raise almost $1,900 in fundraiser and collect car loads in food drive

The Rossland Rotary Club with “Friends of Rotary” and the Rossland Food Bank joined forces late last month in a food drive and fundraiser.

The groups came together in an effort to raise funds, collect non-perishable food items, personal hygiene products and other household goods at Ferraro Foods and Alpine Drug Mart on Saturday, Feb. 27, for those in need.

The volunteers were so pleased with the response and the generosity of the community. Collectively, they managed to raise almost $1900, and collect $380 in Ferraro Foods Gift Cards, $92.50 in Ferraro’s coupons and five car loads of non-perishable food, personal hygiene and household items.

“We stocked the shelves, and gathered funds to allow the Food Bank to purchase fresh produce,” said Rotary president Fiona Martin. “We’d like to thank the community, Ferraro Foods, Alpine Drug Mart and all of our volunteers who made this happen.”
